 The M.S.S. Library is open from 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday. We have over 10,000 fiction and non-fiction books for your use. We also have magazines, newspapers, encyclopedias (General Information, Science, Spanish, Canadian, Crime), reference books (dictionaries, chronicles of the World and Canada, Literature, Music and Art Information Books), electronic periodical indexes and so much more!! You are welcome before class, at lunch and after school to visit the library.

CIRCULATION POLICIES

Students assume responsibility for materials borrowed, and must return them by the date shown on the DATE DUE sticker or card. Materials may be renewed once unless on reserve. Delinquent borrows are refused further borrowing privileges. Lost paperbacks may be placed on trading in suitable replacements. Students are fined 15 cents per day for overdue materials after a two-day grace period. Speak to the librarian to put a hold on a book.

Do you like a certain author and want to read books similar to that author?  Use the Literature Map.  The closer the names are to the centre, the more similar they are to the original author.

 PHOTOCOPYING

You may photocopy materials for 5 cents each. Photocopying debits your printing account.  Just ask the Librarian to help you out if you have any problems.

PRINTING PRIVILEGES

Every students starts each year with a printing balance of $5.00. After that, please see the librarian to purchase more print balance, at 5 cents per Black & White page. Colour printing is also available, for 50 cents per page.  A valid student card, shown once during the year, will entitle the bearer to $3.00 worth of print balance added to their account for free.

COMPUTERS

When you come to the Library, please be respectful of other people and the equipment. If you need to save a document on the computer, please save it in the appropriate location. If you are unsure – ask! Do not create hidden directories or files and keep games and other software at home. Nothing is to be installed on the computers. Nothing inappropriate is to enter the computer system (see your student handbook on this issue).

    The announcements say there is a Scholastic flyer available – I didn’t know these were available for post-secondary. Parents are not often in the school – is it possible to somehow link this to the MSS web site for online purchases?
